Mosaic Sunday

The days are beginning to shorten and it's getting just a bit cooler. This is my favorite time of the year as we approach the opening of the State Fair of Texas. This year's sculpture will be based on the fair's theme: All Aboard for Food and Fun! I am building a mosaic FUN house sculpture with a rocket ship, a clown (Mr. Pleasure from Doran Studio), a fun house mirror and polka dots. The sculpture will be 8.5 ft tall, 3 ft. wide and 2 ft. deep. There's only a few weeks in which to get it done...HERE WE GO!
Other works in progress include a mosaic Day of the Dead skull donated to the Creative Arts Center Halloween raffle. I will post pictures soon and information on how you can purchase tickets to win.
I started a mixed media Tree of Life mosaic that is quite challenging. Broken bits of talavera cups, hand-made ceramics, smalti, marble, gold, unglazed porcelain, beads....and more to come. This piece will be put on hold for a new commission.
